Bring your family and friends to our bright airy Studio for some 2000 degree fun. Experience the dynamic and magical material that is molten glass.
We offer experiences ranging from 1 hour to 4 hours.....
The experience begins with a safety talk and demonstration. Then one at a time you will be guided through the manipulation of a gather of clear glass with pincers; this allows you to "feel" the glass and get familiar with sitting in the bench and being close to the 2000 degree molten glass. The end result of your manipulations will be mounted on a glass "cookie" and will be one of the mementos of your experience.
Next you will make a solid object that starts with choosing and manipulating colored glass to create a core, this core will be encased in clear glass which you will then shape as you choose.
Now to the blowing! You will choose colors and decorate a gather of glass which will then be encased in another layer of molten glass much like the paperweight, only this time it's on a "blowpipe" and you will be able to inflate the glass and then with repeated shaping and blowing create a drinking vessel or vase or other "blown" object.
We provide any level of assistance that you may need for you to have a fun and exciting glass experience, and the pieces that you make will be ready for you to collect the next day or we can ship them (the finished pieces go through a long gradual cooling process that is complete the next morning).
The cost for the experience is $150 per hour, this will be a totally private experience just your group and the 2 of us.
No open-toed shoes please and we recommend long pants. All participants and spectators are required to sign a waiver.
